Arrival by: Train; Car;  Plane;  Travel in the town.

By train ===> go back to Arrival

Torino is connected with direct fast trains to Milan and Rome. The main station is Porta Nuova.

Train timetables are available HERE (no kidding!!!) or HERE.

Taking via Roma from Piazza Carlo Felice in front of the station, (5 min walk in the North direction) one finds Piazza San Carlo. The conference location is in the Department of Mathematics, via Carlo Alberto 10, which is the second parallel street of via Roma, on the right (with the station at your back). Take one of the side streets in Piazza San Carlo to your right, cross via Lagrange and reach via Carlo Alberto, continue walking in the North direction to reach number 10.

By tram or bus -- tickets (1.50 Euros good for 90 minutes after first usage, you need to stamp it on the bus the first time) can be purchased at the newstands, NOT ON THE BUS -- go to the exits of the station on the left to the bus stop. Take bus number 58, 58/ or n. 11, or tram number 4, all toward the center (North direction), i.e. in the opposite direction of the train tracks, and get out at the 3rd stop "via Bertola". Get out and walk on one of the two side streets in the East direction, toward the hills and the river, crossing via Roma and via Lagrange the next street is via Carlo Alberto, and the building next to you (in between these streets) is the Department of Mathematics.

If you want to change bus or you plan to use them frequently, there is a map of the downtown area HERE.

By car ===> go back to Arrival

Torino is reachable via several highways.

It connected to the west to Milan via A4, the best exit toward the center is corso Giulio Cesare.

Arriving from Aosta through A5 the same exit should be taken.

From France via A32 the best exit toward the center is corso Regina Margherita: after the toll take the northbound belt (tangenziale nord) and then the second exit -- beware of the speed limit after it, 70 Km/h.

From the south A6 from Savona and A21 from Piacenza and Genova, the exit toward the center is corso Unità d'Italia -- again beware of the speed limits.

By plane ===> go back to Arrival

The airport (TRN) has several daily connections with Rome Fiumicino, (FCO) and Naples (NAP). It has also several direct international flights to Paris (CGD) daily, Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), Madrid (MAD), Brussels (BRU) and Brussels Charleroi (CRL), Istanbul (IST), Barcelona (BCN), most of them daily connections, others some days of the week, London Stansted (STN) and Gatwick (LGW), Amsterdam (AMS), Düsseldorf (DUS), Braunschweig (BWE), Iaşi (IAS) and other destinations.

  1. Flying to Torino directly
    1. The BUS FROM THE AIRPORT takes directly at the corner of the main train station (Porta Nuova). The timetables are HERE. The ticket 6.50 Euros can be purchased within the terminal, at the travel agent, or inside the bus for 7.50 Euros. The ride takes about 40 minutes.Get out at the last stop at the Porta Nuova station, at the corner of corso Vittorio Emanuele II and via Sacchi  and follow the directions as by arriving by train.
    2. There is also a train connection, which takes you to the Dora station. The price is 2.50 Euros, 1 ticket is good for both the train and bus rides. HERE is a timetable. From the Dora station bus n. 11 takes you in the downtown area, get out at the 8th stop, i.e. the "Bertola" bus stop. Get out and walk on one of the two side streets in the East direction, toward the hills and the river, crossing via Roma and via Lagrange the next street is via Carlo Alberto, and the building next to you (in between these streets) is the Department of Mathematics.
    3. There is also a new shuttle service for 5.50 Euros. For more information please visit THIS SITE. The best stop is piazza Rebaudengo, then you have to take tram n. 4 (and another ticket, 1.50 Euros) toward the town center (South direction), and get out at the "Bertola" bus stop. Get out and walk on one of the two side streets in the East direction, toward the hills and the river, crossing via Roma and via Lagrange the next street is via Carlo Alberto, and the building next to you (in between these streets) is the Department of Mathematics.   Then follow the directions as by arriving by train.
  2. Flying to one of the three airports in Milan
    1. The most likely possibility is to fly to Milan Malpensa (MPX), situated north-west of Milan, and take the direct bus to Torino. But it must be reserved in advance. The schedule is HERE. The final stop at the intercity bus station is in corso Vittorio Emanuele II 131/H, is located outside the map, on the left side of the map, along the yellow avenue (corso Vittorio Emanuele II) along which there is Porta Nuova, about 5-7 blocks (depending on which side of the road you count them) away in the East direction, toward the hills. Tram 9 or bus 68 take you to Porta Nuova. On the BUS MAP it is the last block on the bottom left corner. From Porta Nuova follow the instructions as if arriving by train.
Alternatively, you can take a bus to Milano Centrale and from there a train to Torino (this alternative is not recommended); get out at the last stop in Porta Nuova, for the downtown area.  From Porta Nuova follow the instructions as if arriving by train.
Train timetables are available HERE (no kidding!!!) or HERE.
    2. Another possibility is to fly to Milan Linate (LIN), which is south-east of Milan. From there the best way is to take the bus to downtown, which has the final stop at the Milano Centrale train station (note that the intermediate stop at the Milano Lambrate train station does you no good, unless perhaps you want to go to Venice). From there take a train to Torino; get out at the last stop in Porta Nuova, for the downtown area.
From Porta Nuova follow the instructions as if arriving by train.
Train timetables are available HERE (no kidding!!!) or HERE.
    3. Finally, especially with low cost companies, the third alternative is to use the airport of Orio al Serio (BGY), located east of Milan.
      1. There are new bus connections to Torino. The timetables are HERE, or alternatively visit the SADEM website. The final stop at the intercity bus station is not far from there, in corso Vittorio Emanuele II 131/H.
